How to apply for a research degree

To apply for a research degree, please make sure you fulfill the entry requirements and then complete the online research degree application form and upload your supporting documents.

You should have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) or masters degree or equivalent in the relevant subject area.

Purpose of the Centre
  • To support collaborative research to drive development in teacher education, curriculum and pedagogy using current and emerging technologies
  • To support collaborative bid writing and provide peer scrutiny for publications
  • To support individual and collaborative writing for publication eg. in the Journals of Pedagogic Development and Learning Futures
Themes for work of the centre
  •  ‘State of the Nation’ papers based on nationwide surveys on key themes
  • Large scale data set analysis
  • The generation of pedagogies to meet current and future imperatives
  • Research into change management in academic settings and new academic practices
  • Research and development of methodologies for professional networking including analysis of communities of practice data
  • Working through international communities of practice to build the knowledge base for teacher education, pedagogy and the applications of technologies in educational settings through collaborative R&D projects.
Ways of working
  • Meeting schedule: The groups will meet for lunch for the hour before monthly IREd seminars (Key Thinkers/Methodology seminars). Task and Finish sub-groups will take forward the initiatives arising from the meeting. The meeting schedule will be published on the links below.
  • Teleconferencing: To include members from different locations, including other countries, teleconferencing will available for every meeting with the pass codes available. For meeting schedules and passcodes see: www.educationcommunities.org
