William Baker

Professor William Baker is Distinguished Chair and Qiantang River Professor at Hangzhou Normal University, Hangzhou, PR China, and Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.

He is also Visiting Professor at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies of World Literature and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Northern Illinois University.

He is the author, co-author or editor of over 30 books and has published more than 150 refereed articles.

He is updating his and the late Gerald N. Wachs’s Tom Stoppard: A Biographical History (British Library: Oak Knoll, 2010). Recent books include Pinter's World: Relationships, Obsessions, and Artistic Endeavours (Fairleigh Dickinson UP,2018).

He is the co-author with Jeanette Roberts Shumaker of Jewish Writing: A Reference and Critical Guide to Jewish Writing in the UK (2 volumes, xBrighton: Edward Everett Root, 2019). He is co-editor YWES [Year's Work in English Studies:OUP], co-editor George Eliot-George Henry Lewes Studies [PennStateUP] and Book Review Editor,Advisor, STYLE (PennStateUP).
