National Lottery funding - Get into Sport

Students at the University of Bedfordshire are being urged to give sport a go thanks to a cash boost of more than £200k.

The University has received £208,120 in National Lottery funding from Sport England for its Get into Sport project.

Along with 40 other projects, it is being backed by Sport England’s £10million Active Universities fund to get more university students playing sport, as part of the mass participation legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Professor John Brewer, the University’s Director of Sport, said: “I am delighted that Sport England has made this award to the University, which will provide our students with an opportunity to access a range of sports and coaching expertise over the next three years.

Bedfordshire’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Les Ebdon CBE, said: “This award will enable the University to offer a range of exciting sporting opportunities for all of our students, and I am very pleased that we have been successful in securing this funding from Sport England.
