University of Bedfordshire Sports Scholarships

These awards are made to students who have achieved the highest standard in their chosen sport or activity.
All students awarded Sports Scholarships agree to:
- Adhere to the special award conditions of their relevant award
- maintain and improve their sports performance
- make satisfactory academic progress
- participate in University sport as appropriate
- publicise the University by displaying the University logo on sports clothing (agreement with sponsors may need to be sought in this matter)
- participate as appropriate as a ’subject’ in the academic research of the University
- promotion of the sporting profile of the University including appearance in photos, information for articles as press releases and other promotional materials as agreed
- act as an ambassador for the University
- allow us to use the information of the University of Bedfordshire award of a Sports Scholarship after graduation.

Eligibility
- In order to prove eligibility applicants must provide evidence from an appropriate coach or manager that they are active in their chosen sport at the designated level.
- All EU/UK students of the University are eligible to apply. Application from students with disabilities will be actively encouraged.
- Scholarships will only be awarded at one level to any given student in any given academic year.
- Applicants must be on a full time degree or foundation degree at the University of Bedfordshire. Students on franchised courses are not eligible for this award.
- Students on franchised courses may not be eligible for this award. This Scholarship is not available to students on courses at the British School of Osteopathy. An international student paying international fees is not eligible.
- The level of award is dependent on the athlete's level of achievement in their chosen sport, subject to specific criteria as outlined.
Sports Scholarship Committee
- All applications will be assessed by the Committee whose membership comprises academic staff working in sport, and representation from Student Services and the Students' Union.
- Recommendations will pass from the Committee to the Registrar.
- The Registrar’s decision shall be final. No appeals will be entered into.
Payment of Awards
- Scholarships will only apply to one year of study. Applicants wishing to make a claim for a University scholarship should submit the appropriate application by the closing date.
- Scholarships will be paid in November and/or March as directed on the relevant application. Providing all terms and conditions have been met. Failure to do so will result in termination of the agreement and payments.
Eligibility, terms & conditions apply to 2011/12 applications only. The University of Bedfordshire reviews the sports scholarships on an annual basis.
Failure to fulfil some or all of the above may affect the sport scholar's chance of receiving similar awards from the University in the future.
