If you have money worries the advisors are able to give you general advice on budgeting and will point you toward alternative sources of funding that may be available. These would include career development loans, local authority grants, benefits, tax credits, university bursaries and sponsorships the access to learning fund and the government student loans scheme. The financial advisors also hold a wide range of information and leaflets on student bank accounts, career development loans and budgeting.
Appointments with advisors can be arranged via SiD online. If you are unable to attend a meeting on campus you are welcome to contact our advisors by telephone or e-mail.

Students arriving at University for the first time should have already applied for their financial support package. You can apply either by writing to your local authority or on-line via www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk. You must make sure that you have provided your National Insurance number and all the information they have asked you for if you want to take out any student loans.
Student Finance Direct will send you notice of the support you are entitled to usually within six to eight weeks of your application provided you have sent them all the information you need to.
If you are resident in England or Wales you can check the progress of your on-line application using the customer portal at www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk. As this is
an interactive service you can view the letters that have been sent to you, update your customer details and view the details of scheduled payments.
