The Library at Bedford campus is a stunning and modern building, built in 2001.
It features an IT training suite and 360 study places, of which 120 are linked to the internet, silent study areas and group study areas.
There are 150 computers for student use on the first and third floors of the Bedford library. Each PC provides access to the Microsoft Office suite, statistical packages, locally held databases, the internet, student and staff email and access to shared printers.
Once students are enrolled, an IT user account will be set up for you. You will be issued with a username and password so you can log into any of the machines on campus. Computers are located within the faculty and in the library.
All students are provided with an email address at the start of their course and have access to the campus student email system.
Computers across the University can be used to gain web access and can also be accessed remotely from your home. This enables you to keep in touch with family and friends during term time and with University friends or staff during vacations.
Over 120,000 loan and reference materials are available from the Bedford library, with specialist texts relevant to the subject areas being studied, including education and teaching resources.
All students based at Bedford will also have access to the books and journals at Luton campus.
The brand new Learning Hub at the Bedford campus is a dynamic learning environment which positively encourages interaction and group learning. It is where the exchange of ideas is encouraged in a comfortable social setting with proximity to refreshments.
Using various technologies the resulting information, discussion and argument can then be presented in the most effective format for different audiences.
The Learning Hub contains 50 PCs with space for additional computers in the group learning room, which is also equipped with a digital projector and interactive whiteboard. A few higher spec PCs have video-editing software and students needing indepth support are able to ask for specialist AV assistance.
