The
University of Bedfordshire
was established in August 2006 by order of the Privy Council when the University of Luton and the Bedford campus of De Montfort University merged to form the new institution.
Our excellent
academic reputation is built on the achievements of the University
of Luton and DMU’s Bedford campus.
- The
University is rated 3rd in the UK
for Media courses and 12th for Sport courses - according to the Guardian 2007 league
table
- Our
nursing courses are in the top 50 of all courses in the country, according to the Guardian and based on the 2005 and 2006
National Student Surveys
- The
University is undergoing a multimillion pound expansion and development
programme at our two main campuses in Luton and Bedford
- The
Government has chosen the University as a Centre of Excellence in Teaching and
Learning and awarded us £3.3m to develop creative facilities and approaches to teaching and learning
- Bedford campus is
one of the largest providers of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in the UK
- The University’s Careers Service has been commended by the Association of Graduate
Careers Advisory Services for incorporating skills into degree courses to make
students more employable
