If you are a full-time UK student you will also be entitled to a means tested grant. New system students will be able to apply for a grant of up to £2,825pa.
Depending on your circumstances there are other allowances and grants which you may be entitled to such as the Childcare Grant, Adult Dependants’ Grant and Parents’ Learning Allowance.
If you think you may be entitled to any of these but are not sure, then once again, please don’t hesitate to contact the Student Finance Unit Team (SFU) for additional information and advice.
It is a sum of money allocated to colleges and universities by the Government to help eligible students who are experiencing severe financial hardship (additional to those commonly faced by students), as a result of entering higher education, or who may decide not to enter higher education for fear that they will experience extreme financial hardship.

Your application will be assessed to decide whether or not you qualify for assistance and, if you do, how much support you will receive. You will be advised of the decision and, if successful, how the award will be paid to you.
