Luton has a thriving social scene – there are lots of bars and clubs to choose from that keep students entertained until the early hours of the morning.
And with many offering hard-to-resist student discounts, going out in Luton certainly won’t blow the budget!
Luton is also a great centre for arts and entertainment.
For movie buffs who like to catch the latest releases, Luton’s Galaxy Centre is bound to impress.
With an 11-screen cinema, 16 bowling lanes, a modern bingo hall, virtual reality machines, pubs and restaurants all under one roof, it’s a very popular venue.
There’s a great range of restaurants in Luton offering food from around the world and a choice to suit all budgets.
Try American, Chinese, Thai, Halal, Indian, Italian, Greek, French, Mexican and of course, traditional English food, all within the town centre – you’re spoilt for choice!
Luton is home to one of the UK’s leading covered shopping centres – the Arndale – which is bursting with over 120 shops ranging from high street favourites to smaller specialist shops.
There’s also a large Chinese supermarket and Afro-Caribbean and French markets are held throughout the year.
If you’ve got loads of excess energy, why not take advantage of the various sporting activities that Luton has to offer – with two golf courses, six swimming pools, the Luton Athletics Arena and seven parks, you’re bound to find something to keep you occupied.
We also have a special arrangement with the Vauxhall Recreation Club which gives our students special discounts. The club boasts a health suite, squash and tennis courts and an Astroturf football and hockey arena.
And if you fancy something a bit more adventurous then the Milton Keynes Snow Dome – the largest in the UK – is only a 30 minute drive away.
The biggest event in Luton’s calendar is the one-day Luton International Carnival held in May, which attracts over 140,000 visitors.
It hosts a parade and is Europe’s largest one-day festival.
There are also lots of other events during the year in the two main parks - Stockwood and Wardown.
Art exhibitions are held in Wardown Park Museum throughout the year.
Other events include the Filmstock film festival, a Fireworks Spectacular, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Races and the Christmas Lights Switch On.
