Study Abroad opportunities

Exchange group with flags

The Study Abroad Programme at the University of Bedfordshire offers undergraduate students the opportunity to study an academic year at one of our partner institutions across Europe, Canada and Japan.

This highly valuable opportunity offers many personal and career advantages and a greater insight into and tolerance of other cultures, international work experience, the opportunity to learn a foreign language, increased self-confidence and independence and lifelong friendships with people from many countries.

If Europe is your preferred destination, then students without strong language skills who wish to study abroad can still take part in our Study Abroad Programme, as many of our European partners now offer a wide range of modules taught in English.

How Study Abroad works

If you apply for a Study Abroad place and are successful in your application:

  • You must register as normal at the University of Bedfordshire, including paying any course fees
  • Study Abroad will be a normal part of your degree programme
  • There are no extra semesters
  • You will study modules at the partner university, which will be similar to those you would have studied at the University of Bedfordshire
  • With prior written agreement from your field manager, the credits obtained at the partner university will be transferred back to the University and you will receive 15 credit points for each module completed
  • If you are offered a Study Abroad place and accept it, we will guide you through the application process
  • We will confirm the modules to be studied and provide you with semester dates etc
  • When you arrive at the partner university, you will generally be picked up from the local airport by partner university staff, taken to your accommodation and helped with settling in
