Aylesbury and High Wycombe offer a variety of activities to help you unwind and keep fit.

From local leisure centres and sports to conservation projects and the arts, you're bound to find something to keep yourself amused.

And with loads of festivals and events held through out the year, you're sure to have a full social calendar in no time.

The towns also offer the following activities and events each year:

  • Wycombe Swan Theatre - Situated in the centre of High Wycombe, the Swan Theatre is one of the leading theatres in the UK. Each year 700 performances of 300 separate shows take place so you won't be stuck for things to watch
  • Wycombe Museum - This 18th century house is a great place to discover the fascinating and varied history of the district and the famous collection of Windsor chairs, including the ever popular 'Upside Down' chair  - an outdoor chair that can be turned over if wet.
  • High Wycombe Piano Festival - An annual festival for young pianists, which is held at The Swan Theatre
  • Chiltern Open Air Museum - Run by Oakleigh, this annual event in Buckinghamshire is very popular with people of all ages. From Sheep Shows, Cyril the Squirrel terrier racing and dog competitions to birds of prey displays, medieval fight demonstrations and candle making, this event has something for everyone
  • The Annual Longridge Spring Ball - This is a yearly black tie event in Buckinghamshire which has live bands, dancing, an auction and a raffle. All funds raised go directly to Longridge Boating Centre
  • Wycombe Arts Festival - Focused in and around High Wycombe, this festival displays a wide range of arts, both amateur and professional as well as hosting choral events, intimate storytelling to open air Shakespeare, and loads more
  • Ballroom Dance Club - You can take up a variety of dance classes including Ballroom and Latin American every Thursday at 8-10pm in Aylesbury
  • Wendover Choral Society - Whatever your experience, you can join in and have some fun. Rehearsals take place every Thursday during term-time, from 7.45pm in Aylesbury
  • Adult dance - A fun and friendly class for adults wanting to learn street dance and get fit at the same time at the Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School in Aylesbury. Classes run from 7.45pm - 9pm during term time
  • The Roald Dahl Festival - This annual event held in Aylesbury Town Centre gives local residents the chance to create original artwork, as well as celebrate the stories of Roald Dahl. The day kicks off with a spectacular Parade featuring giant puppets and music
  • Buckingham Summer Festival - This annual two-week summer festival in Aylesbury hosts a wide variety of entertainment and attracts hundreds of visitors to the town. The event includes family activities, comedy, music, sport, dancing in the street and drama
  • The West Wycombe Music Festival  - This annual event takes place over two days in June. It's the social event of the summer full of music and fireworks
