The Bedford campus has undergone a £34m redevelopment which includes:

  • an £8m Physical Education and Sport Science Centre that will be used to train athletes in the 2012 Olympics
  • £20m on-campus student accommodation - Liberty Park- offering 500 en-suite study bedrooms
  • £6m Bedford Campus Centre boasting a 280-seat theatre, dance studios, a fair trade restaurant and social space for students.

The Bedford campus is located 20 minutes by foot from the town centre. The University offers a free bus service that runs between Bedford town centre and the campus, so it’s easy to get around.

The Liberty Park accommodation is within easy reach of the town centre and the railway station, plus it has great communal areas including a gym and on site laundry facilities.

Getting to Bedford campus

By Car

Bedford can be reached from the M1 and the A1 which both connect to the A421 and the A428 into Bedford. The A6 also runs through Bedford. The campus is well sign posted and there is plenty of parking on site.

Public Transport

There is a bus from Bedford Railway Station which is on lines running through central London and connecting Brighton with direct trains to Sheffield, Derby, Lincoln, Leicester.

There are plenty of taxis at the railway station with the fare to the campus in Polhill Avenue costing about £6.50.

For those coming from York, one route is to Peterborough change at Sandy and take a taxi (approx £15) or on the main line to the west take a taxi from Milton Keynes or take the x5 bus which goes from Oxford to Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge.

Bedford is an idyllic riverside town on a beautiful stretch of the River Great Ouse, with London and Cambridge only 40 minutes away.

Bedford offers excellent transport links to the rest of the UK as it sits between the M1 and the A1, and is only a short journey away from London Luton Airport, which handles more than nine million passengers every year.

The town is also home to beautiful parks, a thriving festival and student scene, and offers students a great environment in which to relax, making Bedford a perfect place for taking your mind off your busy university schedule!
