TEFL Summer School 2012

Teaching English as a Foreign Language

  • Monday 2 July 2012 to Friday 27 July 2012
  • UK/EU £1050
  • International (non-EU) £1050

If you are thinking of a career in teaching English, this is the course for you. We are pleased to receive applications from both native and non-native speakers of English.

Some of our students are already experienced teachers of other disciplines; some are fresh graduates; others are mature students thinking of a career change.

Some of our former students go on to teach in schools accredited by the British Council, and the course was designed to meet British Council expectations in terms of teaching practice etc. Successful completion of the course means that our Certificate-holders achieve what is known in British Council terms as 'TEFLi Status', 'i' meaning having an 'initial' teaching qualification.

No prior formal study of grammar and phonetics is assumed, but you should have a strong liking for the language, and a curiosity about how it is structured and used.

The aim is to give you a thorough practical introduction to teaching EFL, and to certify you as being ready to start work overseas, or in private language schools at home.

You will need a level of English equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or better.

Please note the application procedure requires you to have an interview to attend this course.
