There may already be an existing chapter in your area, so before you decide to set one up, please check by looking at our alumni chapters map on the Alumni Relations website. Alternatively write to and we will provide you with contact details.

Setting up a new chapter

If you want to set up a new chapter, great! We’re here to help and want you to make it a success. The University of Bedfordshire does not prescribe a specific format or structure for an alumni chapter. Chapters vary from a single alumnus using an email list or a WhatsApp group to organise monthly meetings or social events, to a formally constituted group with an agreed operating procedure.

Most groups begin with small, informal gatherings and over time will grow based on the interests of members.

Chapters typically begin with an individual willing to take an early leadership role and attract a group of enthusiastic alumni who want to join with them. More formal groups usually start with three or four alumni who are prepared to take on the role of Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Events Organiser. After that, it is about your desire and enthusiasm to run networking and other events and, of course, an interest in the University of Bedfordshire and a willingness to assist with developing our alumni network.

Whichever route you choose, the University of Bedfordshire will need an ‘official’ contact for the chapter.
