LL.M international Commercial Law, 2011

Muhammad Shafiq Ahmed

Tell us a little about yourself and what you have been doing since graduating?

My name is Muhammad Shafiq Ahmed and I completed my LL.M international Commercial Law at the University of Bedfordshire in 2010-2011.

Currently I am practising in Immigration Law, Criminal Law, Cyber Crimes, Tax Law and am the Chief Litigation Officer at Mian Law Chambers.

I am also a businessman and am successfully running my own business.

How has your career developed?

I'm also a visiting lecturer in the Law faculty at GC University Faisalabad, which is state owned. This large university is based in my home city and I am following the same pattern of study as we experienced during our LL.M at the University of Bedfordshire. My law students feel the difference in the teaching as well.

How did your time at the University of Bedfordshire help?

My experience at the University of Bedfordshire was marvellous. The University gave us a chance to experience the difference in practicing law at home and at international level. It broadened my view and made me able to suggest areas of improvement in our laws in Pakistan.

What advice would you like to share with current students or recent graduates?

I would like to advise current students to embrace all the opportunities presented to them, to take full advantage of what the University of Bedfordshire has to offer. This will unlock their full potential and impart a wealth of knowledge. I would also encourage them to interact fully with their tutors, fellow students and peers. Enjoy the student life and get involved in extra curricular activities and - I will simply present my Alma Mater with this gratitude: Thanks My Teachers! Thanks University of Bedfordshire!
