Third Years

Is your CV ready yet?

If you are hoping to find work after graduating, you need an up to date CV. If you haven't already prepared one then now is the time to do it before your academic work load gets too much (assignments, exams ...) Refer to CVs and Applications for help.

Start applying for graduate schemes

Many graduate schemes will start advertising this term. Application deadlines can be as early as November/December. Remember to check entry requirements before applying - a majority of graduate schemes will be looking for good UCAS points as well as a degree. Details of up and coming schemes can be found at Graduate Recruitment. You can also check Prospects or TARGETjobs.

Thinking of postgraduate study?

Applications deadlines are not far away. Online course directories can be found on our Further Study page. Call into the Careers and Employability Service if you would like to discuss your options with an adviser - see Get Advice for details of their availability.

Want to be a Social Worker?

If you are considering this option, but are not on a Social Work degree course, you still have a chance to enter this profession by completing an MSc in Social Work. The closing date for MSc in Social Work at the Uni of Bedfordshire will be in January so you need to apply soon. Check with the Admissions department for the actual closing date as this varies slightly from year to year. The Step up to Social Work scheme is another option open to graduates. The closing date is usually in February so start researching now.

Want to work for the National Health Service?

The NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme will be accepting applications from October. Closing dates are usually in December so don't leave it too late. This scheme is open to any degree discipline with opportunities in Finance, Health Infomatics, Human Resource Management or General Management. For further details about the scheme and to find out when applications open, check the NHS website.
