Learning Technology

The Learning Technology Team is responsible for providing technology which supports teaching and learning – and to some extent, research – across the University.

  • A technical remit, working closely with the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Department to implement and support the various systems the University uses to support learning online and in the classroom (see Systems page). Part of this role is to keep abreast of developments in the field of technology and ensure that we are providing technology that supports the University across all Faculties, keeping existing systems up to date and trialling new types of software in support of 21st Century learning and teaching.
  • Functional responsibility for the following:
  • Online: Blackboard, PebblePad, Turnitin, Blackboard Mobile, Collaborate, Equella, Bristol Online Surveys.
  • In-Class: Keepad Clickers with Turning Point, Panopto-Unison, SmartBoards.

We work with staff to develop their skills and understanding of the potential these systems and software offer to enrich, engage and enhance the learning of our students. We provide a range of functional support for staff, individually and in teams, to help them feel confident in knowing how the systems and tools work, what they can do and what buttons to push.

We offer training sessions you can sign up for where your team can request specific input or you can ask for personal support. We also run development sessions for groups to help them to plan and develop the curriculum for students where technology can have an impact.
