Access to counselling services

Counselling is the process of talking about and working through personal issues with a trained professional. A counsellor can help you address your issues in a positive way by helping you clarify them, explore your options and develop effective strategies and coping skills. The University has a dedicated team of counsellors and a range of self-help guides to help support you.

As a final year student, if you are struggling with a personal issue, suffering from anxiety or lack of confidence and feel that you may need help, contact the Counselling Team for an online or telephone appointment, or to access the self-help guides here.

Mitigation and extensions

The University appreciates that sometimes unforeseen situations outside of your control may prevent you from carrying out your academic work, these are called mitigating circumstances. This can have a real impact on your academic progression at any time of your study, but especially in your final year.

Our mitigation process continues to operate during these unprecedented times and as ever, we encourage you to apply for mitigation as soon as you can if a situation should arise. Our teams can then support you as best we can. More information about the mitigation process can be found here.
