Grabbing every opportunity that comes your way is so important when making the most of your time at university. Many universities offer a tonne of extra and co-curricular opportunities designed to enhance your student experience so you get the most out of student life. Choosing what to do alongside your studies can often be baffling.
At Bedfordshire we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to immerse themselves in other cultures. You may fancy a gap year to cure that travel bug, or be thinking of coming straight to study, but you still want to experience other cultures and countries. Worry not, the Go Global programme will give you the best of both worlds.
It’s an opportunity to travel to another country as part of your degree. The programme is designed to be part academic study and part cultural experience, so you get plenty of time to explore independently as well as meet and mix with native students. Those who have been on a Go Global trip love the mix of cultural visits, local cuisine, learning the basics of the language and seeing new sights.
Over the last two years students have visited China, Vietnam, India, New York City, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius.
This year (2017) Go Global trips have cost £450, so they won’t break the bank. What’s even better is that you can use money from your £1,500 bursary (that you receive when you start your studies with us) towards the cost of Go Global.
Anna is a third year student studying Travel and Tourism so the Go Global experience was right up her street.
“I chose the Malaysia and Singapore as it gave me the opportunity to see two countries in one trip”. We got to go to the top of the hotel, Marina Bay and the views were amazing, I will never forget that experience.. we also got to see the monkeys, eat local food, learn the language and even meet Singapore students”.
Anna had a great time on her trip and made loads of new friends too, it also seems to have given her an even bigger desire to travel.
“Thanks to this trip it has made me realise I want to see even more of the world.”
