About the course

The MSc in Telecommunications Management is appropriate if you are currently working within the telecommunications industry (or would like to work in the telecommunications industry) and are looking to gain management level skills to enhance your career prospects.

You will study a variety of units covering aspects of digital technologies, protocols and regulations for the telecommunications industry, project management, finance and managing people.

This course is accredited by the internationally recognised Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Intermediate qualifications available:

  • Postgraduate certificate – 60 credits at Masters level
  • Postgraduate diploma – 120 credits at Masters level

How will I be assessed?

Assessment strategy

The assessment strategy used is a balance of written reports, exams, (coursework) assignments and computer based assessment. The method used will depend on the nature of the subject being taught in the unit, and the most appropriate method has been chosen.

Assessment feedback

Coursework assignments have incorporated formative feedback so that you can gain an insight into whether your work is meeting the necessary targets.

Major project

You will progress from well-defined briefs to more open-ended and challenging assessments, which culminate in your major project – the MSc Project – Telecommunication Management – where you will be given freedom to choose your area of work.

Entry requirements

Evidence of having studied at least two of the following (or closely aligned topics): Telecommunication, Mobile Communication, Project Manager, Computer Science, Networking or Engineering, Analogue and digital electronics, Circuits design and analysis, Signal processing, Digital communication during your undergraduate studies, or having evidence of equivalent experience.

Example 1: You may have studied physics at UG level, which included telecommunication engineering Telecommunication/Mobile Communication / optics Communications/Project Management in Telecoms/electronics.

Example 2: You may have completed a relevant HND together with several years working within the Telecommunication industry with a technical or managerial role.

Example 3: You have studied computer engineering at UG level, which included control engineering UANDU Networking/Mobile communication/Telecommunication.

Applicants without a first degree may be granted entry on the basis of industrial work experience. Such work experience should total five years.

Our flagship £34m Campus Centre is funky and functional. It brings together all our student services, social and learning spaces, and a 240-seat lecture theatre under one roof.

The Campus Centre building is connected to the rest of the University and the first floor acts as a one-stop shop for all students services.

Designed for work as well as play, the Campus Centre incorporates relaxed learning zones with Wi-Fi access.

Luton is the largest town in Bedfordshire and is approximately 50km north of London.

It has excellent transport links to the rest of the UK and Europe, and central London is only a 30-minute train journey away.

Luton is has excellent transport links to other cities such as Manchester, Leeds and Milton Keynes. London Luton Airport is located just 2.5km from the Luton campus.
