About the course

Computer Science is at the core of modern technology, and at the heart of a number of specialist technology fields. This course shares a common first stage with our other BSc degrees in Computer Science to give you a foundation, as well as providing a platform for specialist study in the second and third stages.

During your course your will spend one semester in a placement within a corporate organisation.

You will cover essential areas such as systems architecture and security, as well as acquiring practical skills in a variety of modern programming languages.

You will also develop skills in systems modelling, software development and artificial intelligence, before focusing on your chosen specialist area during your final stage project.

  • The full-time undergraduate tuition fee is £9,250 per year. The part-time undergraduate tuition fee is charged pro-rata to £6,160. You can apply for a loan from the Government to help pay for your tuition fees. You can also apply for a maintenance loan from the Government to help cover your living costs.

Milton Keynes campus is the new University campus for Milton Keynes backed by the University of Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes Council.

Milton Keynes campus is the newest addition to the vibrant, wider University of Bedfordshire population of 24,000 students from around the world.

The campus and facilities

The Milton Keynes campus is located in the centre of Milton Keynes close to shops, businesses and local amenities.

It's easy to get to if you live locally and Milton Keynes is very well connected, being within 35 minutes of London by fast train.

The campus is well equipped with the latest facilities including:

  • high specification teaching rooms with top-quality audio visual and ICT equipment (seating up to 50 students) ensure optimal delivery of courses
  • special purpose electronics and telecommunications laboratory provides the specialist equipment for our future engineers
  • large general purpose computer lab gives hands-on experience to IT students
  • Learning Resources Centre provides general purpose computing facilities and small group study areas and silent study provision – students can study in the ways that best suit their needs, especially if studying at home is difficult
  • student social space to meet up with friends and colleagues, as well as for important events and get-togethers

The new campus houses an array of modern teaching facilities, a Student Information Desk and the Students' Union, so our students can prosper both academically and personally. 

Study locally and save money if you're MK-based. For example, our foundation degrees offer you part-time and flexible learning study modes, so you can continue to work full-time and live at home whilst studying for your degree.

I chose MK as I live three minutes away from the University campus.

    We expect to receive UCAS applications between 1 September and 15 January for courses starting in the following academic year, but may consider applications received after this date should places be available.
