How will I be assessed?

The assessment strategy is outcomes based and is pass-fail only.

You will be given detailed assignment briefs and regular opportunities for formative feedback will be provided.

Entry requirements

  • Be able to communicate clearly in spoken and written standard English
  • You must not have been previously excluded from teaching or working with young people
  • Be qualified in the content of the material being taught (to at least level 3)

How will this course enhance my career prospects?

The course forms the first step towards qualified status for the post compulsory sector and in many cases is a pre-requisite for entry onto the Cert Ed and PGCE (post compulsory education) programmes.

It is a generic teaching qualification and will help you to gain the experience necessary to enhance your employability in the sector.

  • The full-time undergraduate tuition fee is £9,250 per year. The part-time undergraduate tuition fee is charged pro-rata to £6,160. You can apply for a loan from the Government to help pay for your tuition fees. You can also apply for a maintenance loan from the Government to help cover your living costs.
