Beverley Bothwell

I am a senior Lecturer in Fashion Design and Communication and the Course Coordinator for BA Fashion Design at the University of Bedfordshire, holding an MA in Fashion Design and a PgCAP (Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice). I have taught as an Associate Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University and Sheffield Hallam University and joined the University of Bedfordshire in 2008, where I took a lead role in validating the current Fashion Design course.

As well as teaching I have designed for a number of high-street retailers and started a business teaching Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to fashion professionals.

I am the co-author of the Body-Cut-Space-Cut-Body project with Dr Garry Layden and creator of the Wear Square project and the SHAPE project. Presenting research nationally and internationally, my interests are around creative pattern cutting and introducing new design methodologies that use approaches from both Fashion Design and Spatial Design, exploring the Transitional Place and Disciplineless ways of working, inspiring innovative design outcomes. The Body-Cut-Space-Cut-Body project was first presented at the IASDR conference in Tokyo 2013.
