What Students Say

Below are comments made by students about units in the MA Applied Social Work programmes.

Supervising for Quality and Performance

(Unit - MA Applied Social Work: Leadership and Management)
The course has given me the opportunity to refresh my knowledge and rethink some of my approaches in supervision.
I really value what the lecturer contributed to this course  and would advocate for this module for managers in social work.

Embedding Professional Capabilities

(Unit - MA Applied Social Work: Children and Families)
Introduction to professional capabilities [worked well]. Little is known about this in the workplace so an understanding of it is gratefully received.
Really interesting discussion about different topics, with current research.

Complex Assessments Decision Making Analysis and Risk

(Unit - MA Applied Social Work: Children and Families)
The whole module has been informative. I have learnt about how to improve my  skills and practice.
It's a good module. The idea of formulating hypotheses and how to make decisions have been helpful and have changed my practice.

Managing Teaching Assessment and Learning

(Unit - MA Applied Social Work: Practice Education)

Excellent course with lots of variety of teaching styles. Helpful support from lecturer who was accessible. The mentor sessions were extremely helpful and provided an excellent learning opportunity.

I felt that this was an excellent learning opportunity and assisted my development as a practice educator significantly.
