Technician and DemonstratorMartin Thurlow

Martin has worked as a research technician and demonstrator at the University for past eight years.

He has a passion for film and has practiced as a documentary filmmaker for the last six years. During this period he has made three short documentaries, his last film Brewhouse, is an experimental documentary about the art of making beer.

Martin is currently working jointly with senior lecturer Dave Green on a community engagement and augmented reality project based around the River Lea in Luton.

Martin’s other passion is beekeeping and he currently coordinates on behalf of the university an apiarist project at the Putteridge Bury campus. The main objective of the project is to educate both students and staff about the importance of pollinators, the benefits of beekeeping and ultimately the cultivation of honey.

Martin is also an active member of Unison within the roles of Assistant Branch Secretary and Environmental Officer.
