Himadri Chauhan

Lecturer in Adult Nursing

Himadri Chauhan

Since starting in my post at this University as a Lecturer in Adult Nursing in 2016, I teach and lead the course unit which include the subjects of Human Anatomy, and Physiology. I teach Pathophysiology with specialist teaching in Gastroenterology and Haematology to BSc and MSc Nursing students. I taught Human Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology as a visiting Lecturer at this University while still working in Clinical Practice.

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 and as a Midwife in 1989, from India with Diploma and registrations as a nurse and midwife achieving First rank and gold medals in all final exams. I worked as a staff nurse for 14 years in India. I was recruited as an International Nurse by the NHS and came to the UK in 2004. I worked in various clinical areas, predominantly within Respiratory Medicine and undertook my BA (Hons) degree in Health Studies from Bolton University. I worked within Gastroenterology from 2008 and later progressed to train as a Nurse Endoscopist under the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. My publication was a primary research within Clinical Gastroenterology in 2016.

I have completed my teaching qualifications PgCTHE with Distinction and hold a Fellow status for the Higher Education Academy (HEA). My MSc Clinical Practice is currently on-going.

The students' learning is made more relevant and meaningful when I teach and apply theoretical knowledge to clinical practice, supported by my 30 years of clinical experience. This application to practice is what students enjoy and value most.
