I support the delivery of PG Certificates in Medical and Dental Education and associated courses, including Professional Development. I have been a teacher, lecturer and trainer trainer for 30 years working across a range of settings, including English as a Foreign Language; English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in Higher Education, and Modern Foreign Language teaching in schools.
As a former School Centre Manager, I support the administration of the PGMS by organising workshops, as well as observations by tutors of professionals teaching in their workplaces.
In 2007 I joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as Staff and Educational Development Adviser, training probationary lecturers teaching graduate students in their quest to pass the Post graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (PGCILT), and moved to the Postgraduate Medical School in 2009.
I work particularly with non-native speakers engaged in Higher Education, on their Publishable papers, Dissertations, Theses and Term Papers. This comprises mainly an editing role, but also extensive feedback on writing progress.
External activities include: Assessor of CELTA programmes for Cambridge ESOL, and Marker of Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) for Paper 2, Cambridge ESOL.
I currently lead the Dental Education in Practice unit, and support teaching and learning on Contemporary Educational Perspectives for dental and medical professionals.
I also lead workshops on Academic Writing, Reflective Practice, Communication Skills and one-to-one teaching.
