Dr Nicholas Lancaster
Director, Innovation & Enterprise
Nick graduated from Edinburgh with a PhD and has worked in both industry and academia. He joined the University in 2013 and later set up the Innovation and Enterprise Service to help the University better develop its knowledge exchange and research support.
Dr Victoria Carpenter
Head of Research Development
Dr Victoria Carpenter, BSc (UCF), PhD (Hull), joined the University in November 2018. Victoria started her academic career in 2001 as a Lecturer in Spanish at the University of Derby, later expanding into the area of research and knowledge transfer development. As the Head of Research Development in the Innovation and Enterprise Services, Victoria oversees the work of the Research Graduate School, provides them with academic direction and guidance, coordinates the support for graduate research students, and supports research development. Victoria is an active researcher specialising in representations of violence in the state and public discourse, relationship between knowledge and emotions, and hegemonic and posthegemonic power distribution mechanisms.
Senior Business Partnerships Manager
Gordon started his career as an Electrical Engineer in the British Army with the Royal Engineers, training and serving in the UK and Germany before active service during the first Gulf War. Later he managed a retail catering chain throughout the South East and started his own company building robotic dispensing equipment for Airbus, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover amongst others. Gordon is responsible for business development, acting as an interface between academia and the commercial environment.
Business Partnerships Officer
During her twenty five year career in the Education sector Rachel worked in a variety of settings including workplace nurseries, providing day care and education for Virgin, BP and The British Library amongst others. Rachel has a particular interest in promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Community management. Later in her career she became an Assistant Head teacher leading Lower Key Stage Two Provision and Pastoral Care.
Rachel joined the University of Bedfordshire Innovation and Enterprise Service in February 2018 as a Business Partnerships Officer.
Business Partnerships Officer
Chris has a broad experience of starting and running small businesses, both for himself and through being part of government programmes. He has supported start-ups and has also set up a social enterprise, running a community café and gardening business. He has additional experience supporting others to set up Social Enterprises.
Bindi joined the University in January 2015 and has over 12 years’ experience within Higher Education, having previously worked within a School of Civil & Building Engineering at Loughborough University. Bindi is a member of the Business Partnerships Unit and currently works part time to support the Business Partnerships Managers with business engagement activities.
Louise Wilde started working at the University of Bedfordshire in May 2004, supporting ESF funded training and consultancy projects. Louise's experience spans client engagement, sales and marketing and project administration support across multiple ESF/ERDF funded programmes, networking events and commercial short course programmes. She currently supports Business Partnership Managers and academics with business engagement activities.
Marketing and Communications Officer
Oxana joined the University of Bedfordshire to support the Innovation & Enterprise Service with all things marketing.
She has a Photography degree from Solent University, as well as over 7 years' experience within the Marketing field.
Head of CPD and Short Courses
Eammon heads up the University's CPD unit, working with employers and individuals to deliver training and professional development. Eamonn has long experience in directing the University's innovation and enterprise projects as well as a wide range of commercial activities in support of business growth and competitiveness.
External Short Courses Programme Manager
Anna joined the University in May 2017. Anna is currently supporting university-wide apprenticeship development. She works closely with employers to understand their skills gaps and advises on the apprenticeship levy and opportunities.
Business Project Manager - CPD, Short Courses & Apprenticeships
Tatjana joined Innovation & Enterprise Service in February 2020. She is supporting the development of CPD, other short courses and apprenticeship training programmes.
Tatjana holds Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from the University of Bedfordshire and has previously worked in an Automotive industry, organising and coordinating online and instructor based training for retailers’ employees in UK and Ireland.
Apprenticeships & CPD Coordinator
Sam joined the Innovation & Enterprise Service in June 2020 and supports the CPD, short courses and apprenticeship programmes. Sam has many years experience working in the retail sector and has most recently been involved in operation analysis at a large retirement solutions provider.
Training & Facilities Coordinator
Nicky joined the University in February 2021 co-ordinating and supporting the CPD, short courses and training facilities within the Innovation & Enterprise Service. Nicky has many years experience within a Training environment, both behind the scenes and in the classroom, working for large companies within the Leisure sector.
Training Facilities Coordinator
Karen joined the University over 20 years ago, with a background in sales, customer service and marketing. Karen co-ordinates and supports both internal and external events, large or small, within Venue Bedfordshire for the Innovation & Enterprise Services department.
Lesley joined the University of Bedfordshire in 2012 following a career change from teaching in FE. Her previous experience includes working for another HE institution and professional services firms, specialising in legal and accounting.
Lesley is an accredited Prince 2 Practitioner and has worked on a variety of innovative projects since the establishment of the Innovation & Enterprise Service in 2014. She now oversees all ERDF funded programmes run by the University.

Business Project Manager
Janet joined the University of Bedfordshire to support the Commercial Projects Team. She has a broad project management experience, having worked across sectors. Janet also developed a range of training programmes and implemented new business systems. Her earlier career experience is in business operations and supply chain management.
Project Manager - Innovation Bridges
Charmaine has over twenty years’ experience within Higher Education working across diverse functions including Human Resources, ICT and Finance, Research and Alumni Relations. Having managed many projects over the years, including implementing a new research system, she is now utilising her project management skills in leading the Innovation Bridges Project, which helps companies bring new products, processes or services into their business and launch new products, processes or services out to the market.
Business Partnerships Manager - Innovation Bridges
Maureen joined the Innovation & Enterprise Service in June 2020 as Business Partnership Manager. She supports knowledge exchange between the University of Bedfordshire and SMEs to help in the development of new products and processes.
Maureen’s early career was in buying, product development and supply chain management, working for major multiples before setting up a consultancy business supporting SME businesses in sales and marketing.
Chiara Di Paolo
Contract Management Officer - Innovation Bridges
Chiara graduated from Loughborough University in 2014 and had worked as a copy writer and then in Customer Services before joining the University in February 2017.
Chiara assists with the project management of the department’s ESIF projects and is now using her experience to assist in delivering the Innovation Bridges Project. She liaises with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the project runs smoothly.
Communications & Marketing Management Officer - Innovation Bridges
Simone joined the University of Bedfordshire to support the Innovation & Enterprise Service with all things marketing and communications.
She has several years of experience in the Legal Marketing field and joins us from a London law firm.
Recruitment Services Advisor - Time2Grow
Yasmeen joined the University of Bedfordshire in June 2020 to support the Time2Grow Project.
She has a degree in Social Sciences from the University of Hertfordshire, as well as over 13 years' experience working within the different Youth and Public Services in Luton. In addition to working at the University, Yasmeen runs her own successful bakery business.
Project Manager - ALPHAS
Colin joined the University in February 2020 to run an ERDF project working with SMEs to promote business growth and innovation in the local area. He brings over a decade of experience running projects in multiple sectors, including defence, television and hospitality.
Business Support Officer - ALPHAS
Gulshan has completed her MSc in Project Management in 2018. For the past 3 years she has been working as a learning support assistant and has over 6 years' experience in customer service. Gulshan's main responsibilities include taking a strategic and pro-active lead in Innovation & Enterprise development, as well as create and maintain employer engagement opportunities with business organisations, and key regional and national funders.
Head of Research Services
Karen has a degree in Sociology from the University of Durham. She joined the University of Bedfordshire in January 2020, bringing with her over twenty years of experience working within the Higher Education sector. She has extensive experience supporting research in HE. As Head of Research Services Karen oversees the Bid Support Unit, ensuring that the team provide comprehensive support for staff across the University, from opportunity spotting and bid construction, producing costings, advising on funder requirements, through to the contract process to post award management.
Research Support Officer
Emma joined in March 2020 to promote and support research and innovation activity at the University.
She brings experience of both HE and the social care sector, having worked as an Executive Assistant and a Research Institute Administrator.
Research Support Officer
Nikolaos has recently joined the Innovation & Enterprise team to support the University’s strategy towards high quality research. Following his PhD in Physics with a strong background in nano-material research, Nikolaos has worked as Innovation Consultant specialising in writing high-quality grant funding applications including EU H2020 and InnovateUK grants.
Nikolaos brings with him experience working with Universities, RTOs, SMEs and business units at varying stages of growth, from start-ups to multinational organisations. He has also contributed to IP generation being co-inventor in two patents.
Research Support Officer
Since graduating in 2013 with a Masters in European Project Management (Normandy, France), Blaise moved to the UK and started his career in Research Administration & Finance.
He joined the University of Bedfordshire in October 2020 from a research-intensive University in the North West of England and brings several years’ experience and knowledge in research support to the Innovation and Enterprise Service.
Research Project Officer
Chara joined the university in October 2014 after completing postgraduate studies in Digital Library Management at the University of Sheffield. In January 2015 she joined the International Office as a member of the UKVI Compliance team. There she provided student support to international students, monitored student attendance and processed student records. Prior to moving to the UK from Greece, she mainly worked in organising professional training seminars and in media editing. In Greece, she had completed postgraduate studies in Marketing and Communications.
Chara is a member of the Bid Support team and she is the University's REF Officer, providing support for institution's submission to REF 2021.
General Manager, Putteridge Bury Conference Centre
Andrew has worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years within a number of 4 and 5-star hotels and venues and in a variety of roles, including sales & marketing, conference and events, weddings, revenue management, food & beverage and catering management. His most recent role saw him developing and managing the commercial business at Bedford College services Ltd for the past 6 years.
Andrew and his team like to ensure that all events hosted at Putteridge Bury create memories for years to come by providing great customer service in a stunning location.
