Pre-sessional English courses

Pre-sessional English Courses

English UK Accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK

Students who do not meet the English language entry requirements can take a pre-sessional course to develop their language skills before starting a degree. These courses improve your English level to prepare for your undergraduate or post graduate degree.

  • Teaching hours per week: 24
  • Timetable: You will be given your timetable at Induction
  • Maximum class size: 25
  • Course books: Average course book price is £25 - £30
  • Minimum enrolment age: The University is committed to equal opportunities in its admissions. All applications are considered on individual academic merit, occasionally the University admits students who are under the age of 18.

The University tries to put new students together so a group starts and finishes at the same time. We offer different pre-sessional course durations, depending on when you want to start your degree and your current English level as shown on your IELTS certificate or another English language qualification as recognised by UK Visas and Immigrations Office. An English Language Assessment Service (ELAS) is available at the Luton campus for University of Bedfordshire applicants who do not have an English language certificate. Email the Language Centre at languagecentre@beds.ac.uk for more details.
