Christine Geraghty

Christine Geraghty is Professor of Film and Television at the University of Glasgow, having previously worked at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has published extensively on film and television with a particular interest in fiction and form.

Her publications include Women and Soap Opera (Polity, 1991); British Cinema in the Fifties: Gender, Genre and the ‘New Look’ (Routledge, 2000; (with David Lusted) The Television Studies Book (Arnold, 1998) and My Beautiful Laundrette (I B Taurus, 2004). Her most recent book, Now a Major Motion Picture Film Adaptations of Literature and Drama (Rowman & Littlefield, 2008), pays particular attention to genre, setting and performance.

She is on the editorial board of the Journal of British Cinema and Television and sits on the advisory boards of a number of journals, including Screen.
