Over 2000 calls were made to the University of Bedfordshire’s Clearing Hotline on the day students received their A Level results.

The Clearing hotline (0800 013 0925) which opened yesterday (Thursday 14th August), saw over 60 specialist and academic staff take calls from students considering their options following their A Levels results.

Susie King, Head of UK/EU Admissions at the University of Bedfordshire: “I am delighted to announce we were able to make nearly 600 offers by the end of yesterday. This is an increase of 25% on offers we had made by this time last year.

“But we still have places left on courses across our all our faculties. This is an important decision for young people to make and it is one they need to make carefully,” continued the Head of Admissions.

“Manning our hotline we have a trained team of staff ready to answer any questions young people may have about the University, the student experience at Bedfordshire and the courses available here. Our academic staff are also available to chat to students.”

The University has made enhancing the student experience its top priority. It’s a commitment which has seen students rate Bedfordshire in the recent National Student Survey as the top ranking university in the country for improving the student experience in 2014.

Bill Rammell, Vice Chancellor, University of Bedfordshire said: “My message to students is – whatever your background or ability, you can flourish here at Bedfordshire.

“Students who choose to join the University of Bedfordshire this year can be confident we are committed to ensuring they will have the best possible student experience, backed by high quality teaching, outstanding facilities and great support.”

Not only did the university get a student satisfaction rating of 84 per cent it was also rated as a leading university for improving career prospects by the National Student Survey.

Also, 92 per cent of Bedfordshire graduates were in work and/or further study within six months of completing their studies (according to Destination of Leavers from Higher Education 2013).

The University has main campuses in Luton, Bedford and Milton Keynes and has courses available in areas as diverse as Law, Photography, Robotics and Education Studies. See courses for what is available at the University of Bedfordshire.

Prospective students can also look around the University’s Luton, Bedford and Milton Keynes campuses, check out the student and teaching facilities, visit the student accommodation, have face-to-face meetings with academics and meet the Admissions team.

The Campus tours will run hourly every day, from Thursday 14 August to Friday 22 August. See campus tours for further information.

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the best A level grades – you can still obtain a good degree. And the confidence and life skills you will gain from your student experience will make you more likely to succeed in work,” said the Vice Chancellor.
