The University of Bedfordshire has been revealed as one of the world’s top young universities by Times Higher Education (THE) magazine.

In the 2017 Young University rankings, which rates institutions under 50 years old, Bedfordshire was ranked in the top 200 universities in the world. The university was also named as being in the top 50 in the world for ‘Generation Y’ which looks at those universities established between 1986 and 1999.

The Young University rankings measure universities on the quality of their teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income. It places less emphasis on reputation.

Bill Rammell Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire said: “It is a great honour to be named by Times Higher Education as one the top young universities in the world. It especially good to see the university placed in the top 50 when rated against those that are same age.

“The University of Bedfordshire is proud to be a young university that is breaking down barriers to education. We are international in our outlook and our ground-breaking applied research is changing people’s lives for the better right now.

“This achievement is testimony to the hard work of all our staff and the talent of our students."
