The University of Bedfordshire is gearing up to welcome new students with a packed week of activities to showcase the best of what university life has to offer.

Freshers’ Week begins on Saturday 23 September where new students will have the chance to get involved in a range of fun activities, including UV light and paint nights, Get to Know the SU breakfasts, karaoke nights and beach parties.

Freshers’ Fairs will also be held at Bedford on Monday 25 September and Luton on Tuesday 26 September where students can find out about support services and what is on offer around the University and the local area.

The University’s Careers & Employability Service will also be running part-time jobs fairs at Luton and Bedford, where students can meet with local employers and find out about part-time employment opportunities.

The University’s Director for Student Experience Rumnique Gill said: “Welcome 2017 aims to encourage students to embrace their time here, get involved, and socialise in their first few days and weeks.

“The wide range of activities showcase what is available as part of the student experience outside of the academic aspect of university life and gives students an opportunity to get to know peers in various social settings. We look forward to welcoming all of our new students.”

The week will conclude with a glittering Freshers’ Ball, organised by Bedfordshire Student Union, Beds SU, at Empire Nightclub in Bedford, featuring a DJ set from Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor in Game of Thrones.

Beds SU President Joseph Daniels said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming new students this year and we’re excited to show them all that Bedfordshire has to offer. We know coming to university can be a bit daunting so we’ve put together a schedule of events to cater to all tastes so students can settle into university life and make new friends at their own pace.”
