Bedfordshire welcomes new Chair to Board of Governors

Tim Sawyer CBE

The University of Bedfordshire has welcomed Tim Sawyer CBE as the new Chair of its Board of Governors.

Tim brings substantial experience to the role. He has worked in the financial services for over 30 years, and more recently was the CEO of the Start Up Loans Company. He is currently Chief Investment Officer for the public body Innovate UK.

Tim was previously Head of Banking at Abbey National, and Managing Director of Cahoot Banking. He was awarded the CBE for services to government and small business in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2016, has a distinction from the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a MA in History from the University of Oxford.

Bill Rammell Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire said: “I am delighted to welcome Tim to the University as Chair of our Board of Governors and very much looking forward to working with him.

“I know Tim believes in the mission and values of this University and is as determined as I am to champion the need for higher education to be more accessible.”

Tim replaces Alan Cook at Bedfordshire, who has stepped down as Chair of the Board after seven years.
