Here at the University of Bedfordshire, we have a number of interesting and fun things for students to do and see – right here on campus!

Take a look around our Luton campus to see if you can spot these interesting landmarks.

1. Hang out in the Campus Centre!

Located right at the heart of our Luton campus is the Campus Centre where you can find a wide range of things to do and see – including a large lecture theatre, the Careers & Employability Service, and our award-winning radio studio Radio LaB

The Campus Centre is also the best place to socialise with friends, as it is home to our Students Union Metro Bar & Kitchen where you can enjoy drinks and freshly made pizzas, alongside entertainment including regular live music and student events. The Metro Bar & Kitchen also serves Starbucks Coffee by day, with friendly student staff on hand to serve up your tasty treats.

Downstairs in the Campus Centre, you can find the Careers & Employability team who offer both current students and graduates helpful career advice, including top tips for improving your CV, help getting work experience and jobs, and a number of webinars and services to develop your employability.

2. Chill out in the library

The modern library at our Luton campus is perfect for getting on with uni work in the peace and quiet – or teaming up with friends to work on a project in one of the library’s group study spaces.

Opened in summer 2016, the library is seven-storeys high and offers a number of facilities to students, including silent-study rooms, rooms to practice your presentations, and even a café for catching up with friends.

The library boasts an impressive 100,000+ books to browse, with study materials for a variety of courses and topics available for students to loan. There is also a handy ‘laptops for loan’ service, where students can borrow laptops to help with their studies.

3. STEM Building

Opened in September 2019, our state-of-the-art STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Building offers a vast range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as research and PhD opportunities.

The STEM Building includes modern, well-equipped laboratories including engineering laboratories and three specialist analytical laboratories for life sciences teaching and research. It also features robotic equipment and biometric devices, to allow students to get the most out of their studies.

4. Explore the student accommodation

When it comes to student accommodation, Fitzroy and Wenlock Courts are the University of Bedfordshire’s only official student accommodation in Luton, and the town’s only on-campus student rooms.

Living away from home, especially for the first time, can be a scary experience, but our student accommodation can help give you peace of mind by being safe and secure with trained security staff on site 24/7, and fob and swipe card entry systems.

The accommodation features a range of modern, fully furnished, modern studios and en-suites, with comfortable beds, plenty of storage space and useful desk areas. There are also great on-site facilities including a free gym, large social spaces and cinema room.

Living in student accommodation is also a great way to socialise and make new friends outside of your course, with regular social occasions organised to bring students together.

5. St Mary’s Church

Situated within our Luton campus is the picturesque and historic St Mary’s Church, which has been at the centre of worship for hundreds of years.

Over the years, a number of our graduation ceremonies have taken place in St Mary’s Church, providing a beautiful and memorable location for students to celebrate with family and friends.

There are a number of worship services open to the public, so students can get involved if they would like to.
