Impact of modern media on spiritual goal striving: extending media richness theory
Project: Impact of modern media on spiritual goal striving: extending media richness theory
Description: Emerging integration of media technologies and devices for interaction (recognised as modern media) are providing spiritual and religious assistances around the world. This emergence is being embraced by numerous faith based individuals and organizations for performing tasks of spiritual nature like utilizing dedicated portals for accessing and sharing audios, texts, forums, blogs, video recording etc. Despite these advancements, there is lack of research in Information Systems (IS) from Media Richness Theory (MRT) perspective. Thus this study aims to a) extend MRT factor structure to capture the holistic nature of modern media; b) examine the influence of modern media on task effectiveness of spiritual goal strivings (SGS); c) examine the influence of SGS accomplishments on subjective well-being. Findings from this study is hoped to provide a better understanding and make way for IS researchers to embark on modern media developments and its influences on various human life domains.
