CSR in SMEs: Perceptions and Practices in a Developing Country as Nigeria
Project:CSR in SMEs: Perceptions and Practices in a Developing Country as Nigeria
Description: In the light of several societal problems across the globe, such as economic uncertainty, poverty, corruption and environmental issues (e.g., pollution and climate change), and considering the crucial role of business and its relationship with the society, it is expected that businesses will help address most of these problems. Consequently, CSR as gained prominence amongst practitioners and academics, as it showcases the relationship between business and society at large. Although, scholarly studies on CSR has gained currency, nonetheless most of the studies undertaken on CSR are concentrated on developed economies, and in instances where the perspective is on developing countries, the focus has predominantly been on multinational companies. Nevertheless, scholarly studies have established the importance of CSR to SMEs. There is therefore a pressing demand to assess the process in which CSR is understood, designed and implemented by SMEs from a developing country standpoint.
