Education at Bedfordshire recognised in World University Rankings

The University of Bedfordshire has been ranked as one of the best places in the world to study Education in the Times Higher World University subject rankings.

The University appeared in the 201–250 category in the THE Education Subject Ranking. The subject rankings are based on the same range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings 2019, but the methodology is recalibrated for each subject to suit the individual fields. Over the year 11 subject rankings will be published for 2019.

The University’s Education courses open up many and varied careers in education and related sectors, popular careers include teaching and varied roles working with children and young people.

Drawing on a range of disciplines such as Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Law, Health and Social Welfare, students are enabled to apply theory to practice in work-based settings.

After a broad first year, students can focus on a particular theme such as special educational needs, technology and teaching preparation, ensuring they can choose to work in a range of professions with children and young people.

Prof Andy Goodwyn, Head of School for Education and English Language said: “We are delighted to have appeared in the World University ranking for Education alongside many excellent universities in the UK and internationally. An education degree at the University of Bedfordshire is ideal if you enjoy the immediacy and importance of working with young people and helping them develop their full potential.

“Our graduates enjoy fulfilling careers such as teaching in primary or secondary school, teaching English as a Second language, working as special educational needs teachers, others choose exciting careers as youth workers, careers advisers, teaching assistants or speech therapists.  Many of our graduates also go on to full time postgraduate study.”
