Some three quarters of our work across sports science, PE and tourism and leisure has internationally recognised impact.  

More than 95% of our research outputs are rated as internationally recognised or better (compared with a sector average 93%).

University of Bedfordshire Sport and Exercise Science provides leading-edge results for elite athletes, educators, clinicians and policy makers.

Specialist knowledge

We combine specialist knowledge on nutrition, exercise, and therapeutic strategies to improve global health awareness and quality of life across multi-cultural communities.

Our research attracts funding from established organisations such as The British Academy, Medical Research Council and the US Air force.

Collaborative research

We encourage collaborations and partnerships at a variety of levels which empowers practitioners in the fields of sport, exercise science and physical education. 

We work with sporting elite, including UEFA, Olympic Commission and UNESCO and empower them through our research findings to make informed decisions.

Specialist facilities

Our research takes place in innovative, specialist facilities and this allows us to advise a multitude of specialists across the health and sports professions, governments and other educational establishments.

Researchers and research students at the University benefit from successful links with the nutrition and sports performance industries such as union of European Football Associations, Volac LTD and Maxnutrition Ltd.

Our research community also benefits from exchanges with companies and organisations in the respective professions the research serves.
