The department provides many opportunities for working together with other students as part of the taught curriculum and peer motivation.

You will take part in lectures and workshops looking at key social issues to enable to you to develop critical positions.

We use a diverse range of assessments throughout your three years. Group work will encourage you to become accustomed to, and prepared for, multi-agency working.

All our teaching, across all units, is based on new and established research regarding today’s social challenges.

Assignments based on real life issues

Your assignments are based on real case studies and case conferences, while extra curriculum opportunities will allow you to learn first-hand more about real-life issues.

Simulated assessment centres

Our links with employers provide extra curricular activities in simulated assessment centres (dependant on funding).

Ethics and safeguarding

Ethics and safeguarding is crucially important in Human Services, and this is emphasised in specific units (e.g. child protection) as well as in your dissertation where you will submit ethical considerations.
