To attend the graduation ceremony you must have passed all elements of your study programme and have these agreed by the appropriate Examination Board.
All students eligible to attend are invited to book a place at a ceremony about 12 weeks before the graduations.
You should not wait for your results before you register your intention to come. If you miss the deadline to book we may not be able to allocate you to a ceremony with your course friends or faculty.
Yes. To attend the Graduation you must apply before the deadline date.
If you do not pass all elements of your course a refund will be given or you will be given the option to have your booking transferred to the next set of ceremonies.
No. Any student who is 'referred' and has to undertake a re-sit examination or assignment to successfully complete their studies at the time of the ceremony will automatically be invited to attend the next formal graduation ceremony to which they are eligible.
If you are excluded at the time of your faculty's examination board and the University's Scheme Board, you will be unable to attend the ceremony. Once your exclusion has been lifted you will be invited to the next appropriate ceremony.

Your email invitation to graduation will tell you the date and location of your graduation.
The time of your ceremony will depend on your course of study. and will be confirmed in an email after the booking deadline.
Ceremonies usually be scheduled to take place at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 4.30pm.
It is not possible to change your ceremony date. Students must graduate at the relevant Faculty ceremony.
Please make sure your contact details are up-to-date on eVision. We email invitations 12 weeks before an event.
You should complete the online booking process by the deadline date, otherwise we do not know you want to attend. If we have not heard from you by the deadline date we will assume you do not wish to attend.
Paying for guests does not confirm your booking. You must complete the online booking process.
Academic dress is compulsory for all those being presented at a graduation ceremony. Our recommended gown supplier is Ede and Ravenscroft. Gowns should be ordered no later than 21 days before the first day of graduation.

Yes. If you don't complete the online booking process by the deadline date, we will assume you do not wish to attend the ceremony. We will not send any further emails.
Once you have completed the online booking process you will receive confirmation of your booking by email.
There is no charge for the graduating student.
Guest tickets cost £15.00 per person (maximum of two per graduand) if booked by the booking deadline, and payment cleared by the payment deadline.
Extra tickets where available will cost £25.00 per person.
Up to two guest tickets can be reserved at the time of booking. These guest seats are guaranteed as long as they are paid for before the booking deadline.
Please note children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult other than the graduating student.
It is recommended that young children are not brought to a ceremony. Experience shows that they can become restless and uncomfortable at ceremonies.
It depends on the size of the ceremony. Extra guest seats may be available but only after the allocation of guest seats requested and paid for by the deadline.
If extra tickets are available, you will be notified once the payment deadline as passed. They are offered on a first come, first served basis and the price is £25 each.

Should you or one of your guests become temporarily incapacitated after you have completed the process please log in again and update your booking or contact the graduation office. We use this information to allocate appropriate seating.
The graduation team will be in touch to confirm arrangements where they have been notified.
Tickets are not sent out; they are collected when you register on the day. Tickets are not transferable.
A refund will only be made if a provisional booking has been made, but the student becomes ineligible to attend having failed to meet condition 3.2.1b of the terms and conditions and they choose not to carry their booking of guest tickets forward to a future Ceremony under 3.2.3 of the terms and conditions.
To obtain a refund you must write or email us at least seven days before the graduation.
Please include your student ID, full name, payments details including method, name of payee, payee bank name, reference or receipt number and confirm the full address where refund should be sent.

Ceremonies normally start at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 4.30pm. Civic Ceremonies (July only) usually start at 2.30pm.
You will receive an email a couple of weeks after the booking deadline which confirms the time of your ceremony, if you book to attend. Your page in eVision will also be updated to show the ceremony time.
If you don't receive the email from the team, please get in touch with the graduation office.
Guests should be seated no later than 30 minutes before the start of a ceremony. Please make sure your guests are seated in plenty of time prior to the start of the ceremony. Guests without tickets will not get access to the ceremony.
Please note your ceremony will start at the time indicated in the correspondence you will have received.
Graduations are a formal ceremony and so late comers cannot be admitted. Seating is allocated, and any extra tickets that are available will be sold on a first come first served basis.

There are no parking facilities at our University Square Campus or Putteridge Bury Campus, Luton.
Yes, your certificate will normally be presented to you in the ceremony.
If you are unable to attend, please complete the online booking process, confirming the address where you want the certificate sent, that you do not want to attend, and delivery method preferred. Certificates will be posted out once the graduation ceremonies have taken place.
Please note if the online booking process is not completed your certificate will not be sent out until you send an email to confirm the address where you would like it sent.
You name will appear in capital letters in full. When we invite you to a graduation ceremony we also show you how your name will be displayed. If it is not as you expect, please contact your faculty course administrator.
If you want formal photographs on the day please indicate this when booking a photography package through the official photographers Ede and Ravenscroft. You can do this at the same time you order your gown. Booking in advance will reduce queuing time on the day.
We suggest that you arrive about two hours before your ceremony start time.
Once you have registered with us, collect your gown and if there is time get your photographs taken.
You should be in your seat in the ceremony venue 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
If you have spare time there are cafes on site at all venues.

You are advised not to pay for more than two tickets. Children cannot attend without an adult. Only two tickets per student are guaranteed if booked by the booking deadline. Over-payments will not guarantee extra tickets.
Tickets are collected in person by the student on the day at the registration time notified. If the student does not attend tickets will be re-allocated.
Dishonoured payments will invalidate any tickets purchased and any bank or other costs incurred may be charged to the student.

Why has the University moved the graduation ceremonies for Bedford students to a remote venue?
At the Vice Chancellor’s meeting with students on 6 April, a strong preference was expressed by students for locating this year’s graduations at our Putteridge Bury campus instead of other options. The University has worked hard to facilitate this and is please to confirm that arrangements are being made in response to the preference expressed.
When and how will Bedford students find out which ceremony they are invited to attend?
Invitations will be sent out to all students expecting to graduate this summer in w/c 24 April. They will be sent to their recorded email addresses.
How will students be selected to attend the Civic Ceremony at the Corn Exchange in Bedford on 20 July?
A course or group of courses will be selected which comprise the right number of students plus expected guests for the seating capacity the venue.
If the ‘extra’ date for the Civic Ceremony in Bedford in inconvenient for a student who is invited to it, what other option will be made available?
A student invited to the Civic ceremony will have the option of attending a ceremony instead, at the Putteridge Bury campus on either 17 or 18 July, being the dates originally announced. Details of how to select this option will be given in the when invitations are sent.
Will the University provide transport for students and their guests from Bedford to Putteridge Bury?
There will be a frequent shuttle bus from Luton town centre to the Putteridge Bury campus operating free of charge for students and their guests.
Will there be parking available at Putteridge Bury?
Whilst parking will be available, if requested in advance, for graduates and/or guests who have mobility problems, others should use town centre parking and take advantage of the free shuttle bus.
What assistance will be provided for students and their guests wanting transport from Bedford to Putteridge Bury?
A bus service will be provided free of charge between Bedford campus and Putteridge Bury. Details of timings and booking arrangements will be provided nearer the time.
Will Bedford-based graduates and their families be reimbursed their travelling expenses for making the journey to Putteridge Bury?
No, but they are invited to take advantage of the free bus service instead.
Travelling to your Graduation Ceremony
A free bus service is being provided to Putteridge Bury campus from both Bedford and Luton Campuses. There are no parking facilities on site except for those graduates or guests who have declared mobility difficulties to the graduation team through their online booking.

If using the above bus service you are free to use the University Car Park at the Bedford Campus. Please be aware that this is a pay and display car park, any car found without a valid parking ticket may be liable.
To use the Bedford to Putteridge Bury service, you will need to book a space for yourself and your guests. Only graduates and guest booked on the bus will be able to use this service. When making your booking you will receive a ticket which you will need to print off and bring with you to board the bus.
An email will be sent shortly with a specific link to book your seats on the bus.
Luton Campus to Putteridge Bus Service
A regular bus service will run throughout the day for all graduates and guests between the Luton Campus and Putteridge Bury. Buses will run approximately every 20 minutes from Fitzroy Court, on Vicarage Street.
