What You Need to Do & When

To ensure you are able to follow your chosen career path or secure employment after graduating, the journey starts in your first or foundation year. It is important to develop the necessary skills and experience that employers are looking for. This can be achieved by undertaking extra or co-curricular activities such as part-time work, volunteering or student societies.

For some professions, entry may be dependent on previous activities and not just the application. These include vacation schemes, experience in the sector or additional training post-graduation. Applications for many graduate schemes must be made at the start of the third year.
