International Students

Support from the Careers & Employability Service for international students is the same as for UK and EU students but we can also offer basic advice on issues such as National Insurance Numbers, visa requirements for working in the UK and how to find work while you are a student.

International students can come along to the careers drop-in or book guidance appointments for longer sessions. See Get Advice for how to access these services. We offer support with finding and applying for work, interviews and further study.

Information for international students is also available at www.beds.ac.uk/international (University of Bedfordshire International Office).

Comprehensive details regarding visa requirements can be found at GOV.UK Visas and Immigration & Work in the UK

Looking for work in the UK?

If you are hoping to stay in the UK after your studies, it may be possible to find work but this will depend on your visa status. Some companies sponsor international workers - access the list of current sponsors at GOV.UK Register of licensed sponsors: workers

In 2021, the Graduate Route was introduced to provide an opportunity for international students who have been awarded their degree to stay in the UK and work, or look for work, at any skill level for two years (or three years for doctoral students). For further details, see the link below (Graduate Immigration Route).

Other routes are available - you will find up to date advice at UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) about finding work in the UK after your studies.
