About us

We are based at the Luton campus with a small team also operating from Bedford and are here to help current students or graduates from the University of Bedfordshire with their career planning and progression. A range of services are available; please see our Get Advice section for further details of these services and how to access them.

Quality Assurance

The Careers and Employability Service network with local and national employers and organisations. Building good relationships enables us to keep up to date with relevant resources and information about graduate schemes, employment legislation, current vacancies, careers events and subject specific information. We are members of the following professional bodies:

Reporting to the Head of Careers and Employability Service, I manage day to day operations and key teams within the service to ensure that available resources are allocated to support students, academic departments, employers and graduates.

Recruitment Services Team

Our recruitment service helps students and graduates into employment by providing an agency style solution to employers.Students who register their details with us will be alerted to vacancies relevant to their job preferences, receive our weekly vacancy bulletin and be offered feedback on their applications and interview process.

My role involves engaging with employers and other organisations to help students and graduates into employment. Through various initiatives between organisations and the University,  I build partnerships to enhance our relationships outside of the institution.

Zane Vilsdorfa

I contribute to the delivery of a professional recruitment service on behalf of employers, targeting extra-curricular work-based opportunities for students and employment opportunities for graduates. As a Recruitment Services Adviser I work with specific employment opportunities that provide our students and graduates with relevant options for developing skills and launching graduate careers.

Matthew Harris

As Service Administrator, I manage and co-ordinate the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey at the University of Bedfordshire. I also manage recruitment accounts for local and national employers, placing students and graduates into full and part time roles as part of the Recruitment Services team.

Student Development & Awards Team

Student Development and Awards support students to develop their employability skills whilst studying at the University of Bedfordshire. The team support students on over 85 professional practice year (sandwich) undergraduate degrees. We work with students to prepare them for work, sourcing a placement, the recruitment process and during their placement. The team manage other activities designed to aid in developing employability skills, including a suite of credit-bearing optional employability units from Arabic through to Public Speaking!

My job is to manage all professional practice year and employability unit activities, including managing the Work Placement Co-ordinators based within the SDA team.

Sulaman Sunny

I am one of the first points of contact for all professional practice year enquiries. I closely work with our students who wish to go for a PPY (placement) to help and support them secure one. I also liaise with local, national and international employers to get them involved with our students by advertising available placements and delivering presentations.

I am one of the first points of contact for student enquiries and registrations as well as administrative support to students undertaking or wishing to undertake a professional practice year as part of their degree. My team is responsible for promoting work experience opportunities and their benefits to internal and external stakeholders.

I work with the Computer Science & Technology (CST), Art & Design, Media Arts & Production, Sports Therapy and Life Sciences departments and support students through guidance sessions and drop-in.

I support students and graduates with career planning, finding work, submitting applications and interview prep. One-to one-guidance and group sessions. Actively promoting an inclusive and accessible careers service for students, staff and graduates alike.

Christine Smith

I work with all courses based at the Bedford campus including Education and Sport. Specialising in all aspects of routes into teaching and related professions. I am also a member of the Teaching and Related Professions Task Group, Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS).

Information, Marketing & Admin

I manage careers information resources, both printed and online. Offer one-to-one careers guidance and drop-in sessions for students and graduates. I also maintain the Careers website, process finance/departmental stats and assist with event organisation/marketing.

Damian Grychowski

I support and direct students as well as employers to the careers and employability related assistance they require. I also co-ordinate job advertisements on social media, our online job board (iProspects) and notices boards.

Jay Kasongo

I help and direct students to the careers and employability related assistance they need, produce a weekly jobs bulletin and promote job opportunities for students of the University.

In my role as the Community Volunteer Co-ordinator, I help students find the right volunteering role for them. I build partnerships with community organisations and advertise their voluntary opportunities to our students. I work to find worthwhile volunteering roles for our students to gain experience and give back to the community.
