About us

We are based at the Luton campus with a small team also operating from Bedford and are here to help current students or graduates from the University of Bedfordshire with their career planning and progression. A range of services are available; please see our Get Advice section for further details of these services and how to access them.

Quality Assurance

The Careers and Employability Service network with local and national employers and organisations. Building good relationships enables us to keep up to date with relevant resources and information about graduate schemes, employment legislation, current vacancies, careers events and subject specific information. We are members of the following professional bodies:

Reporting to the Head of Careers and Employability Service, I manage day to day operations and key teams within the service to ensure that available resources are allocated to support students, academic departments, employers and graduates.

Recruitment Services Team

Our recruitment service helps students and graduates into employment by providing an agency style solution to employers.Students who register their details with us will be alerted to vacancies relevant to their job preferences, receive our weekly vacancy bulletin and be offered feedback on their applications and interview process.

My role involves engaging with employers and other organisations to help students and graduates into employment. Through various initiatives between organisations and the University, I build partnerships to enhance our relationships outside of the institution.

I contribute to the delivery of a professional recruitment service on behalf of employers, targeting extra-curricular work-based opportunities for students and employment opportunities for graduates. As a Recruitment Services Adviser I work with specific employment opportunities that provide our students and graduates with relevant options for developing skills and launching graduate careers.

Farah Afzal

My main role is working on the Time2Grow project. This project is designed to help graduates get into work by completing a 10 week internship and gaining valuable skills and experience. I also work alongside the Recruitment Service team to manage recruitment accounts for local and national employers.

Lizzie Connolly

I have previous experience in higher education volunteering as well as working in the third sector. My role involves engaging students with volunteering and working with external charitable organisations to create volunteering opportunities to strengthen our links with the wider community.

Student Development & Awards Team

Student Development and Awards support students to develop their employability skills whilst studying at the University of Bedfordshire. The team support students on over 85 professional practice year (sandwich) undergraduate degrees. We work with students to prepare them for work, sourcing a placement, the recruitment process and during their placement. The team manage other activities designed to aid in developing employability skills, including a suite of credit-bearing optional employability units from Arabic through to Public Speaking!

I am part of the SDA team, predominantly working with Year 2 students who are part of a 4 year sandwich programme, aiming to secure suitable employment for their 3rd year. I provide end to end support and guidance to students to help them in their journey to find suitable placements. My role entails me to collaborate with appropriate academic departments and external companies to ensure a smooth process is in place for our students who are due to commence employment, and for those who have already gone out to complete their 3rd year working for a company. Also, currently working closely with the Employability courses to help execute a smooth delivery of each course.

As Employability Adviser I support students across the University via guidance appointments, drop-ins and through workshops; providing information, advice and guidance relating to career entry and career progression. Matthew Harris

I manage and co-ordinate the Graduate Outcomes survey at the University of Bedfordshire and assist with marketing activities. I also support the Head of Service with the analysis of employability intelligence data for external returns. I support students and graduates via weekly drop-ins and guidance slots.
