Student Experience Awards 2016
Congratulations to the winners of the Vice Chancellor’s Student Experience Awards 2016
The awards were presented and celebrated at the Afternoon Garden Party held on 8 June 2016 at Putteridge Bury. The event represented a real celebration of the Student Experience recognition of all the great work undertaken in various forms at the University of Bedfordshire.
This year there were 20 award categories available. In addition to the winners selected, there were also a number of "highly commended" nominees recognised for their "above and beyond" commitment to the student experience.
The overall winner for the “Vice Chancellor’s Outstanding Student Experience Award” and winner for the “Outstanding Teacher (CATS)” was Kate Ironside. Kate, Senior Lecturer in Journalism received a mixture of nominations from student and staff.
The winner of the “Student of the Year” award was Guy Smith. Guy, who is deeply motivated in learning about human learning and development, specifically early childhood.
In addition, for the second year an additional award was presented again at the awards ceremony: the Lord Lieutenant's Community Engagement Award. This new award recognises, promotes and celebrates the work of individual students or groups of students of the University, who have made a tangible and outstanding contribution to communities within Bedfordshire and have advanced the mission and values of the University. A £200 prize was awarded to the student or group of students in receipt of this award.
The winner of this particular award and prize this year was the Enactus Bedfordshire Leadership Team. Enactus are a group of dedicated volunteers, who are made up of students from all the Faculties and across all years.
Peer Assisted Leaders (PAL) award winners were also recognised and presented with a trophy at the awards ceremony. They were:
