  • AccessHE Disability Practitioners' Conference:
  • Working together to support disabled students in their journey to HE
  • 14 July 2015 (9.30am – 4.00pm), central London

A free informative event for teachers, careers staff, virtual school heads and others who work with disabled students in all stages of education including those students who have Special Educational Needs, specific learning differences (e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD), chronic medical conditions (e.g. asthma, epilepsy, depression, anxiety, etc.) as well as students with mobility, dexterity or sensory impairments.

This FREE conference gives staff the opportunity to update their knowledge on the support available to disabled students entering Higher Education (HE). Delegates will consider how they can work more effectively together to support disabled students in their journey to, through and post Higher Education. Providing students with access to accurate sources of information is key in raising awareness of the accessibility of HE and through this event, delegates can feel confident in doing so.

Keynote speakers include Barry Sheerman, MP for Huddersfield and the Champion and President for AchieveAbility and Julia Taylor, Jisc Subject Specialist in Accessibility and Inclusion. The event will also be supported by organisations including Disability Rights UK and the National Association of Disability Practitioners.
