The University of Bedfordshire Business School (UBBS) will showcase how organisations have benefitted by working with staff and students on real projects at an event on Thursday, 14th May.

‘Real Business, Real Practice’ will demonstrate the Business School’s tailored approach to working with businesses. Over 80 companies have already taken part in events linked to the UBBS, with The Post Office, Save the Children and Cobham still to come this academic year.

Both students and companies will speak at the event to explain how Practice Weeks – one expression of the Business School’s focus on putting theory into practice – are vital to aiding graduate prospects as part of the future workforce.

The Business School’s Project Executive, Tim Priestman, said:

“Our curriculum combines theoretical rigour with company contexts that give students the skills and knowledge to succeed.

“For organisations it’s a chance for new ideas, development for their staff and participation in a growing and ambitious University rooted in our local communities.”

Businesses attending will learn:

  • How local businesses – big and small – have benefited from working with the Business School in the last year,
  • How UBBS students work on real world business issues,
  • How a practice-based vision gives Bedfordshire students the education, attributes and behaviours to truly impact the companies they work alongside,
  • About the University facilities and advice available.

In addition, the event will show local businesses how they can benefit from working with the Business School in the following ways:

  • A free one-hour telephone consultation with one of UBBS’ Professors in Management Practice,
  • Guaranteed fulfilment of graduate recruitment requirements,
  • Opportunities to develop business management teams through working with UBBS staff and students.

Real Business, Real Practice is being held at the University’s Postgraduate & CPD Centre and is free to attend. Businesses wishing to take part can register at: www.eventbrite.com
