The subject of ‘how to make the Talented Europe job match app a success’ was debated at the University of Bedfordshire (4 November).

The EU Erasmus Plus Talented Europe project, is a multiplatform application, and online/onphone ‘app’ which matches international businesses with potential employees, and aims to expand the horizons of the graduate job market.

Paul Harrison, Employability advisor at the University of Bedfordshire explained: “Tutors can endorse the talents of student - this is an important part of the 'sell' for Talented Europe. Once an employer finds one good candidate from the App, they will go back for more from ‘credible’ tutors. Success breeds success!”

Bringing together the talents from the University’s Business School, EU partners, and students, the forum attracted over 50 local and international participants from countries including Spain, Germany, France, Croatia, Slovakia, Belgium, and Lithuania.

Also in attendance were speakers and panel members representing Luton Borough Council, the University’s Careers and Employability Service, academic tutors and the Student Union, all of whom contributed to the lively and thought-provoking debate.

Event co-organiser Professor Yanqing Duan commented: “I am so excited with the enthusiasm and the very positive feedback received from the participants.

“Suggestions on how to make this unique job matching App a success and what specific roles the university can play, provides lots of food for thought. The event has certainly made its impact on improving the graduate’s employability through awareness raising and project demonstration.”

Tom Hunt, director of Jarmany Data Service Ltd., said of the app: “Traditional recruitment is a costly minefield, that’s why this project is exciting. We look forward to working with you!”
