The course receives maximum exemption (nine papers) from the Association for Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

In the National Student Survey 2025, our accounting courses scored student satisfaction rates of 90% and over for teaching, academic support and learning resources; 100% of students were satisfied with freedom of expression on the course.

About the course

This accredited course provides a direct route to a professional qualification in accounting, opening the way to a range of rewarding careers. It offers a comprehensive knowledge of the main ideas and principles of accounting and finance as well as the skills to apply your knowledge. Using the latest technology, you study business practice and the business environment in which accountants operate before proceeding to corporate law; data analysis; and the advanced study of management accounting, taxation and auditing.

ACCA accredited programme

This course is accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT); The Association of International Accountants (AIA); and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Completing relevant accredited course units makes you eligible for exemptions in ACCA, AAT, AIA and CIMA examinations.

Student experience

  • the first nine papers of the ACCA professional exams (the maximum ACCA

International Foundation Year

with Professional Practice Year

This course has the option to be taken over four years which includes a year placement in industry. Undertaking a year in industry has many benefits. You gain practical experience and build your CV, as well as being a great opportunity to sample a profession and network with potential future employers.

There is no tuition fee for the placement year enabling you to gain an extra year of experience for free.

with Foundation Year

A Degree with a Foundation Year gives you guaranteed entry to an Undergraduate course.

Whether you’re returning to learning and require additional help and support to up-skill, or if you didn’t quite meet the grades to pursue an Undergraduate course, our Degrees with Foundation Year provide a fantastic entry route for you to work towards a degree level qualification.

With our guidance and support you’ll get up to speed within one year, and will be ready to seamlessly progress on to undergraduate study at Bedfordshire.

The Foundation Year provides an opportunity to build up your academic writing skills and numeracy, and will also cover a range of subject specific content to fully prepare you for entry to an Undergraduate degree.

This is an integrated four-year degree, with the foundation year as a key part of the course. You will need to successfully complete the Foundation Year to progress on to the first year of your bachelor’s degree.

As graduates you will be able to join commerce industry and financial and banking institutions.You will also be able to purse postgraduate studies in Accounting and other related fields and this in turn will ultimately lead to senior financial positions in a variety of organisational settings.
