Our welcome events include informative sessions, activities and events dedicated to helping you settle in, get to know your campus, meet fellow students and get a sense of the University life that awaits you. They are the perfect introduction to your life as a student. There are different events taking place each day at Luton and Bedford and our welcome desk will be on hand to answer any queries you have.

It has now been confirmed Monday 19 September, is the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, and it will be a national bank holiday to allow the nation time to pay their last respects to the queen.

For many of you this will be your first week at university and you may want to spend the day together watching the funeral, marking this unique national moment. We have ensured there are spaces available on Monday on campus for you to be together:

Bedford

  • Beds SU, Metro - Food and drink will be available to purchase and they are televising the funeral for students who wish to watch it together, 10am – 8pm.
  • University accommodation - Tea and cake in common room, 10am -2pm
  • Library Campus - Open, 8.30am - 10pm

Luton 

  • Beds SU, The Hub - Food and drink will be available to purchase and they are televising the funeral for students who wish to watch it together, 10am – 8pm.
  • University accommodation - Tea and cake in common room, 10am -2pm
  • Library Campus - Open, 8.30am - 10pm

Please note our Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, London, Birmingham and Putteridge Bury campuses are closed to students on Monday 19 September.
